Hello!  My name is Karen Long and I love being an educator!  I earned a Human Resources Degree from Penn State then fell in love with teaching children.  I returned to college to earn my Elementary Education Certificate from West Chester University, my Masters Degree in Education from Wilkes University, and my Principal Certification from Alvernia University.  This is my 16th year of teaching in a classroom.  I was also a Head Teacher for one year, an Elementary Assistant Principal for two years, and a Elementary Principal for 2 1/2 years.  As I look back, I think of the many students that I have impacted in a positive way!

My husband, Ron, and I have two wonderful daughters!  Katie is happily married and is a Physician Assistant in the Williamsport Area.  Our daughter, Meg, is a Marketing Director in the Reading Area.  I love pets!  Currently, we have one dog (a Yorkie) named Owen and a cat named Ben.  In our free time, we enjoy spending weekends at our cabin and watching a variety of Penn State sports in State College.  I also love to read!

Teaching First Grade has been something that I have wanted for a long time.  I love seeing the children learn.  Each day is new and exciting.  I really believe that it is very important for my students’ parents and I to work together.  This team approach benefits the child and his or her educational development.
